‘What can I say about Emotion… Well in all honesty I would not be here today without them.

I have been a member of far too many gyms, I have always joined with someone, only booked on classes if that person was going and never lasted more than 6 months at best. My weight has yoyo'd all my life anything from a size 12 to a size 28 and I have never been happy in my body and have certain never been 'fit'.

I joined Emotion as a last-ditch attempt to 'sort my weight out' and I have gained and achieved so much more.

From my first class to today almost 18 months on I have gained a family. You are never alone at Emotion, I may walk in on my own but there is always someone who says hello, they know your name, you're not just another member. Every single member empowers you to do your best, no matter what that looks like.

I have mental health issues and no matter where I am in that journey as well as my fitness journey there is always someone there who has your back. Whether you need a hug, to cry, to not talk, to beast yourself or just a safe space, Emotion is there for you. Many a day I could let my mind consume me and take me to a bad place but an hour in Emotion or happyccino and I can face the world again.

There is always great tunes, a fantastic challenging workout, laughs, smiles, celebrations and encouragement. Never bitching or the same thing every day. It is truly my happy place.

I have competed in a fitness competition, deadlifted 130kg and worked out in shorts and a sports bra. Never do I feel uncomfortable as a bigger girl, judged or belittled in any workout whether I am with a fitness king or queen or someone starting out on their journey.

I am learning to run, lifting weights and can even enjoy a burpee (occasionally). I promise you, if you choose to give emotion a go you will never look back.
